Herd Farm is home to three full sized replica Iron Age roundhouses within the rolling rural setting of north Leeds. The exciting setting is conducive to understanding and appreciating the challenges of prehistoric life and the skills and ingenuity that were required to survive over 2,000 years ago in Britain.
You and your pupils can spend a day outside at Herd Farm. To find out how our ancestors lived you will visit the Mesolithic camp and Iron Age enclosure village. In the morning pupils will find out how prehistoric people survived and discover and experience the changes in prehistoric materials and technology. In the afternoon pupils dressed as Iron Age or Stone Age villagers will take part in activities that reflect the life of our ancient ancestors. The day will end around a fire in the roundhouse enclosure.
The Iron Age Experience @HerdFarm is a collaboration between Herd Farm who provide the venue and Forest School Plus who plan and deliver the day.
