Directions to Herd Farm Activity Centre from the A61 Harrogate Road.

From Leeds:

Starting from the roundabout where the A61 Leeds-Harrogate Road crosses the A6120 Leeds Outer Ring Roads at Moortown. Leave Leeds on the A61 in the direction of Harewood and Harrogate. At Alwoodley Lane/Wigton Lane traffic lights (1) go straight on, and straight on again at the Leeds Grammar School mini-roundabout (2). Be prepared for the first left turn after about a quarter of a mile (3), which is the access lane to Herd Farm via the Yorkshire Water Eccup Water Treatment Works – IGNORE THE ‘NO ENTRY’ SIGNS – you have a right to use this lane in order to reach Herd Farm. Go down this lane, with woods (4), either side, across the Eccup Reservoir dam (5), and round a right hand bend until you reach a T-junction (6). Turn right here (there is a barrier away to your left). Once you have turned right, the road immediately curves round to the left. Follow the lane, between the Water Works to your left, and the four houses to your right (7). Just past the houses cross the cattle grid (8) and enter Herd Farm.

From Harrogate and Harewood:

Head for Leeds on the A61. About 2 miles past Harewood look out for the turning (3) to your right. This turning can be a little difficult to spot when approaching from Harrogate/Harewood, but not long before it there are signs warning motorists to drive carefully because of queues of standing traffic, and there is a small sign (on the left verge) indicating that you are nearing the Eccup Water Treatment works. If you overshoot, carry on to the Leeds Grammar School (20 mini-roundabout, and head back out on the A61. Turning (3) will now be on your left. Once you have turned off the A61 Harrogate Road, follow the directions given above for visitors approaching Herd Farm from the A6120 Leeds outer Ring Road.
